5 Ways To Deal with Picky Eaters in the Family

If you're struggling with a picky eater, then these suggestions are for you. Toddlers are notorious for being picky when it comes to food so getting them to eat healthy options like vegetables can be a challenge. Use these ideas to improve their diet quality.

1. Limit Between-Meal Snacking

Kids need snacks but hungry kids are more likely to try new foods. While you shouldn't overly limit snacking, try to provide only one snack midmorning and midafternoon.

2. Involve them in Buying and Prep

Kids are more likely to eat meals they've helped prepared. While your toddler may not be able to do much, try to involve them at the grocery store or farmers market. Allow kids to choose veggies to make them more involved.

3. Offer Condiments

Many healthy foods don't have exciting flavors to a child naturally. Allow your child to have ranch dressing, ketchup or other favorite condiments with their meals.

4. Offer New Foods

If your child hates broccoli, don't offer broccoli with each dinner. Offer a variety of vegetables and other foods. It can take time for kids to like foods so vary the options and repeat foods occasionally for improved acceptance.

5. Don't Pay Attention to Fussy Eaters

Although it's a good idea to encourage trying new foods, don't pay constant attention to a child's refusal or acceptance of foods. This can reinforce choices. Avoid too much attention in this area.
